Ringworm, a skin disease that typically occurs in people, is the end result of fungi infecting the hair follicles of the skin. The parasites causing the disease are infectious and microscopic. The contaminated area becomes swollen and painful, with scaly skin, resulting to the common symptoms of a ringworm disease like the presence of rash or blisters and crusting over. In some cases, the disease also causes open sores in the skin that might be painful when touched.
